Sad

You know, I really AM ready to NOT have puppies here anymore, but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sad about taking them to the SPCA. I will not know who took them, or if they get taken.....and they will be scared to be away from us. I know it's silly, but I can't help it.

Friday, November 14, 2008

Well, there are only 3 puppies in my house right now. 1 person who SAID she was coming to get Jack's lil twin did not show up.....so, maybe I don't have them all given away. But 3 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than 8!

4 weeks old~

They are getting SOOOOOOO big!!!

For Trey, Nick, Ryan and Jason...Love you guys

An email I received....

Subject: Sack Lunches
I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat downin my assigned seat. It was going to be a long flight. 'I'm glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps Iwill get a short nap,' I thought.

Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me. I decided to start a conversation. 'Where areyou headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me.' Chicago , to Great Lakes Base. We'll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we're being deployed to Iraq ..'

After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that sack lunches were available for five dollars. It would be several hours before we reached Chicago, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time.

As I reached for my wallet, I overheard soldier ask his buddy if he planned to buy lunch. 'No, that seems likea lot of money for just a sack lunch. Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to Chicago .' His friend agreed.

I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch. I walked to the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a fifty dollar bill. 'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.' She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. 'My son was a soldier in Iraq ; it's almost like you are doing it for him.'

Picking up ten sacks, she headed up the aisle to where the soldiers were seated. She stopped at my seat and asked,'Which do you like best - beef or chicken? ''Chicken,' I replied, wondering why she asked.

She turned and went to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from first class. 'This is your thanks.' After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for the rest room.. A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did. I want to be part of it. Here, take this.' He handed me twenty-five dollars..

Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Flight Captain coming down the aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he walked. I hoped he was not looking for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the plane. When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand, and said, 'I want to shake your hand.' Quickly unfastening my seat belt I stood and took the Captain's hand. With a booming voice he said, 'I was a soldier and I was a military pilot. Once, someone bought me a lunch. It was an act of kindness I never forgot.' I was embarrassed when applause was heard from all of the passengers.

Later I walked to the front of the plane so I could stretch my legs. A man who was seated about six rows in front of me reached out his hand, wanting to shake mine. He left another twenty-five dollars in my palm.

When we landed in Chicago I gathered my belongings and started to deplane. Waiting just inside the airplane door was a man who stopped me, put something in my shirt pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the soldiers gathering for their trip to the base.. I walked over to them and handed them the seventy-five dollars. 'It will take you some time to reach the base. It will be about time for a sandwich.. God Bless You.'

Ten young men left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow travelers. As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return. These soldiers were giving their all for our country. I could only give them a couple of meals. It seemed so little...

" A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote ablank check made payable to 'The United States ofAmerica ' for an amount of 'up to and including hislife.' That is Honor, and there are way too many peoplein this country who no longer understand it.'"

HOLY SHIT~

I got the job!!!! WTF! I guess this means I have to be a grown up now, aat least at work. sigh.

New clothes will be required...and new shoes...and new purses....darn. Have to holla at ma bitches again and go shopping.

i don't get to start until 10/20, but that's okay. Hopefully, within a few year, I will be making the big bucks. :D

Just had a FABULOUS weekend with our besties...Mary and Jason, Barb and Danny and Richard and Julie. We spent tons of time together on Saturday at Johnny Appleseed, again last night for dinner and again this morning for breakfast. I can honestly say that the happiest moments are when all of us are together, with the kids laughing and playing in the next room.

Life is good...and, as of tomorrow, Fall is officially here!!!

Happy Sunday everyone.

Awwwwwwwwww.......

I have some cute kids, I must say!

WOW!

Well, I had my interview yesterday in Chicago. It was AMAZING! He was saying things like, "You are my lead candidate" and "You should smile all the way home. I hope to have good news for you by the end of the week."

I have never walked out of an interview feeling that great. It was nice, fo a change.

:D

sooooooo....anyway

The phone interview went really, really well. Now I have a face-to-face in Chicago ON MONDAY!!!! So, I went and got my haircut last night...nice long layers...and am going suit shoppin with ma bitches on Sunday. Thank GAWD for ma bitches---you know who you are. :D

I found out today that the guy I am interviewing with on Monday is a much tougher interviewer...very analytical. He will "test" me, is how a friend of mine put it. I guess it is better to know htat now, ahead of time, instead of getting blindsided.

I got to pick up my little rental car on Sunday night---the interview is at 11:00 central time, 12:00 my time. Going to leave at about 6am, so that should give me plenty of time.

Taking Laney for her first college visit on Saturday--the Art Institute in Indianapolis. I think that should be fairly exciting---it will be good for her to see a little bit about what it is like.

Going to sleep now....so tired.....

Tuesday night

Well, the funeral is over. Hopefully, over the next few months, we will be able to help this little family begin the healing process.

For something good---I HAVE AN INTERVIEW TOMORROW!!! This will be a phone interview with the boss of the hiring manager....then, sometime in the next two weeks, I will be driving over to Chicago for an interview with the actual hiring manager.

I am a bit of a nervous wreck, but I know that it will be okay. Will be getting a suit (hopefully) and a haircut, definitely----more on that later.

Love to everyone....

Sad...

Little Lilly died on Thursday afternoon. We drove Barb and Danny's son, Joe, down to Riley to be with his family. It was so hard to see Barb and Danny and Angie and Jen so upset. I can only hope that our presence helped, in some small fashion.

Please pray for their family now and ongoing---they will need all our good thoughts and hopes.

Bad news

Little Lilly is not doing so well. They are not sure she is going to make it. I hate being away from Barb when she is going through this. Although I know her husband and kids are there, I can't help feeling that I should be too. It's just such a sad situation, no matter the outcome. I wish there was something I could say, or do, to let Barb and her family know how much I love them and am thinking of them. I wish I could be there with her, holding her hand and being a shoulder for her. I know Barb--she will try to be strong for everyone else. I wish I could be there and be the strong one for her.

Praying for them...for Lilly...for a peaceful ending. I think maybe Lilly is meant to be our little angel, but it's still so sad.
This is a pic of me and Barb from about a hundred years ago....I love you Barb!!!

Tuesday night and nothing's on

Hello, everyone.

Can I just say that I hate freaking incompetent people? Like this girl at work who is supposed to be covering for me and calls in sick on Friday...the day before a holiday...AND today...the day after a holiday. Hmmmm...interesting. That seems to happen a lot with her. So, I am supposed to be on vacation tomorrow, but I will be going into the office anyway, since I can't be sure she will show up and my work is not being done. Grrrrrrr.....

Waiting to see about getting an interview for the account manager position. That would be a great challenge and change for me. Not to mention more earning potential. It would also mean more travel, but travel can be cool, especially when someone else is paying for it! :)

Praying for little Lilly. If you want to find out more about her, look here: http://danandbarbhernandez.blogspot.com

Your added thoughts and prayers can only help.

Talk to you again soon...

Summer's Over...Thank Gawd

So, summer is over. No matter what the calendars say, Labor Day has, for me, always heralded the end of summer.

All in all, a good summer this year. Kaine's team won the city championship. Laney passed Driver's Ed with Bs and As. Charlie and Bev started spending more time with us. I applied for a new job at work. Jeremy applied for a new job at work---both look hopeful. I had a GREAT vacation with family and friends and started planning another for next year. Yep, pretty good summer.

But now, here comes fall...when the leaves turn to fire and fall from the trees and the air gets crisp and filled with wonderful smells. Sometimes I miss when my kids were little enough to get excited about Halloween.

Laney turns 16 next month. There is so much I want to do for her to celebrate, but I don't know if I can. I'll just do what I can and it will be enough.

I like fall because it gives me time to prepare for my favorite month---the month from Thanksgiving to Christmas. :D I love being with my family--keeping tradition. I love being with friends--starting and keeping new traditions. Yeah, I guess September to New Year's is about my favorite time of year.

Well, I have started a blog for Big J and myself. We'll see how it goes. I'm not sure that I can get him to blog, but...maybe....
